The Angry, Angry Knight

And second in the second batch of Star Wars portraits, Kylo Ren! I wanted to get Old Luke done before my Utah trip for FanX, but there’s a different piece I have to get done first and I won’t have time for Luke until after. But there will be more!

The Mother of Curves

Hey, listen! Salt Lake FanX is coming up soon (Sept 5-7), and I’ll have a booth in artist alley! If you’re in the area please come say hi! I have a few more Star Wars pieces I plan to have ready too, and maybe even a con exclusive ;)

Now this was an interesting one. I was commissioned to paint Jessica Rabbit. While watching clips to get a better feel for the character, I discovered that the animators kept her anatomy incredibly fluid; depending on what she was doing and at what angle, her body would just change! And I mean a LOT.

So, I had a lot of fun trying to bring Jessica into a more current style without losing her cartoon roots. I tried to do some Dave Greco-style hair, and I might continue working on that stylized look for other projects on my mind.

May the 4th...and the start of my convention career!

As the title says, I’ll be starting my journey down the Convention Artist road with a booth at Arctic Comic Con this Saturday! For the occasion I’ve created three images appropriate for the date. I want to continue this type of simple portrait for more Star Wars characters as we continue to get closer to the epic Skywalker conclusion.

I’ve also gone back and corrected some of the more glaring issues with a few of my older pieces…most notably the Mercy/Reinhardt one and the Elven Vampire character.

When Universes and Shields Collide

Another commission finished! I cannot even express how exciting it was to work on this project. I got to actually hand-draw and hand-INK (oooooh, scary! At least for me) an entire image! I spent a metric buttload of time watching Jim Lee on YouTube (Thank you so much for putting those videos online, sir!) and did my best to emulate a comic-style process. My brain had a hard time trying to adjust, but I think it turned out OK and I definitely want to do more comic-style ink drawings!

Inks for Wonder Woman!

Aaaand Cap inks!

Gotta finish this one

I’ve been slacking. I wanted to start streaming regularly, but between the internet here sucking (blame Alaska information infrastructure) and having to help with family things for a while, this project stalled. It’s referencing Kendall’s (AKA poltermouse on Instagram) awesome Odile Widowmaker cosplay! But I need to finish it! I actually like how it’s going so far.

I’ll keep y’all updated on the streaming thing…I want to make it a regular part of my life. But anyway, here’s the current state of the project.

Kat and Garen, sitting in a tree....

Finished up my League of Legends fanart piece featuring Katarina! It's weird to think this was an old half-done sketch for so long, and I almost just trashed it when I was cleaning out my folders recently. I had a lot of cathartic fun just rendering things, especially the metal (as always).

As fun as this was, it is a pretty static piece. My up-and-coming projects will be quite the contrast: loosely rendered but very dynamic (hopefully) storyboards and sketches. I want to develop a story I've been working out into visuals, but also gotta keep focusing on things I want to improve!

What's new Kitty Kat

Went through some old files last night, found some random sketch of Katarina from League of Legends. I was trashing everything else that was old and forgotten, but decided to work on that sketch for a while. And then I didn't stop working on it. It's not done, but here's the progress so far.

Failhammer 40bleh

A couple hours of playing around trying a build-up style of painting (that I failed at) resulted in a partially done Warhammer 40k Grey Knight. So I slapped a silly mohawk on the monotone menace and called it a day. Probably won't try to finish this one (I'd rather sketch up a better pose and motif) but I'll share it anyway.

Touching up an oldie

I had a conversation recently with somebody that really wanted a print of my Sailor Bait painting. They wanted to hang it on the wall in their office. It makes some sense...they help people who are dealing with lots of issues, including addiction, so the image represents some of those temptations and how dangerous they can be.

Anyway, I would have felt embarrassed to have the old image displayed as it was. I didn't want to start over from scratch, but I decided I could use the old image as a base and work it up from there. That ended up being a bigger project than I wanted (I probably should have just redrawn the entire thing. Oh well) but I figured I could show you the before and after here.

Rey Time Lapse Video

Here's the time lapse video for the Rey sketch I did the other day. I now have a hankering to either make my own Sith version of Rey, or just come up with my own Jedi character. Too many things I want to draw, but never enough time!

Speaking of which, if you like my art and want to help support me/free up some more of my time so I can make more art, I do have a Patreon. I share full PS files, hi-res images, instructional videos, and whatever else I can think of for free; donations are optional, so nobody is excluded from accessing the content if they can't afford it.

I also am open for commissions in a variety of styles and formats.

May the Fourth be with you!

I'm going to be making an effort to stream fairly often, even if I only have a few hours and don't work on anything important. Today that meant realizing it was May Fourth and deciding Rey would make a good subject to stretch my 'ole painting muscles a bit.

This was about an hour and a half. I *think* I recorded it, but I'll have to check later if I can edit and upload it since I now have to go to work. But hopefully there will be a timelapse soon.

If you enjoy my artwork and would like to help me have more time for drawing and making instructional videos and the whatnot to help newer artist, please consider my Patreon.

Sylvanas done!

Pretty happy with this one. I want to continue experimenting with line quality, but I'm getting a better feel for relying on a good drawing.

Next up is Anduin, I think...although I might finish up some old, neglected projects.

I take commissions. Pricing is completely dependent on each individual project, so please contact me and we can work out a plan.
